Independent domestic violence advocate IDVA

Shantona Independent Domestic Advisors/advocates (IDVA) role is to support victims/survivors of domestic abuse or violence. Victims/survivors must be at medium - high risk of serious harm from intimate partners, or family members. We carry out risk management/safety planning and help them navigate the criminal justice process.

  • Support and discuss available options

  • Feeling safe and supported

  • The IDVA will also act as the victim’s voice in a multi-agency risk assessment conference – MARAC

  • Feel empowered to take control of their lives, living in safety free from abuse and fear

  • 1:1 support

  • DV Support Group (Stepping Forward) – Every Tuesday 10 – 12pm term-time only

  • Healthy relationship sessions (According to Individual needs)

  • Support is tailored to individual survivors’ needs

  • Advocating on behalf of service users
