Healthy holidays
We provide a range of fun, healthy and engaging activities during the school holidays - maintaining friendships, preventing holiday hunger and reducing isolation for children and young people across Leeds.
WHAT WE OFFER
Keeping children active, fed and connected every holiday.
Healthy holidays runs across Easter, Summer and Winter school breaksn - giving children and young people a safe, fun place to be when school is out. Activities take place both on-site at Shantona and at external venues across Leeds.
Healthy eating information
Fun sessions teaching children about nutrition, cooking and making healthy food choices.
Reducing the risk of holiday hunger
Ensuring children have access to nutritious food and snacks throughout the holiday period.
Reducing social isolation and loneliness
A place where children can stay connected with friends and make new ones over the holidays.
Taking on new challenges
Trying activities they might never have experienced before – from swimming to sports to creative arts.
Making friends and new adventures
Trips, activities and shared experiences that create lasting memories and real connections.
WHEN WE RUN
Three school holidays, one consistent lifeline.
Healthy holidays runs across all three major school breaks,
providing support over 4 days per week so no child is left without something positive to do.
Easter Holidays
Activities across the Easter break to keep children active, engaged and connected when term ends.
Summer Holidays
Our biggest programme - running 4 days a week for 4 full weeks of the summer break.
Winter Holidays
Warm, welcoming sessions during the Christmas and New Year break so no child faces the holidays alone.
TWO AGE GROUPS
Ages 5 – 10
Younger children’s sessions with age-appropriate activities, games and creative play
Ages 11 – 16
Older young people’s sessions with more challenging activities, sports and social programmes
