What makes us different

 Bridging the gap between cultures

What makes us different?

Shantona’s diverse team reaches out to isolated women, building trusting relationships and empowering women and families to be confident, independent and resilient, and to tackle inequality. Our team has led programmes to improve community cohesion, one such example of this is the “Strong mother, stronger daughters” project.

At Shantona we challenge inequality, discrimination and cultural bad practices, addressing taboo issues, such as DV and CSE through our services. As a result, women have developed leadership skills, their own voice and have become empowered to influence and make changes. This has been achieved by communicating culturally sensitive and strong messages out to the wider community concerning issues which would otherwise remain hidden and go unreported. As a result of our integrated efforts, women are now sharing their experiences around DV and CSE publicly, influencing faith groups including mosques.

Engaging Communities

Working at the heart of the community to engage those most at risk and develop bespoke support services to improve the lives of those most in need.

Giving the Community a Voice

Acting as an advocate for a community where otherwise voices may not be heard, ensuring that we listen and respond accordingly.

Influencing

Raising awareness with communities, educating and acting as an influencer making positive changes locally and nationally.

Sustainable Growth

Enabling a sustainable future for the charity and the support services available, ensuring we remain open to new opportunities by planning ahead and continuing at the forefront of our field.

Nurturing Talent

Develop programmes to nurture talent and enhance the team at the centre with a focus around a learning culture to ensure the stakeholders at Shantona are continuously reaching their full potential.
