Shantona Childcare

Shantona Childcare: Shantona provides crèche facilities for the parents to enable them to take part in the centres learning opportunities as well as engaging them in social and cultural activities.  All staff has been updated on training for the Early Years Foundation Stage and regularly attended other training courses relevant to their job roles. All staff and volunteers are checked for CRB and hold a CRB disclosure form. The crèche helps us to deliver the best start in life for every child. It brings together early education, childcare, health and family supportThe crèche has a curriculum plan, which provides a stepping- stone towards the future educational benefit that the child will receive.  Shantona is in a very multi cultural area provision is made for the community. We have a wonderful bilingual staff team who are experience and qualified to give support to both parents and children. Shantona crèche works alongside Thomas Danby College, which provides staff and classes at Shantona.  The crèche is also used as a student placement and volunteers are taken on too. We work in partnership with parents as parents are the children’s primary carers and have the most knowledge about their children. We have an open door policy, which means parents are welcome anytime in the setting and do not need permission to stay. At Shantona we respect all staff, parents and children’s confidentiality. Matters are not discussed with others, only when it is of relevance or concern we will discuss with our Line Manager who deals with it in the appropriate manner.Children’s health, dietary needs and allergies are kept confidential only staff members have knowledge of this information. Shantona crèche provides 20 places for children aged from 6 months to 4 year. Places are allocated in order of application and a waiting list system is in operation. Shantona crèche is registered with, and inspected by Ofsted. We comply with the National Standards requirements for under Eights Day Care. Our latest Ofsted inspection for Shantona’s crèche was graded as a good provision.  Crèches opening hours:Monday to Friday 9.30am to12.30pm and 1 pm to 3.30pm

Special needs:  Every effort is made to ensure that children with special needs are given every opportunity to learn develop and grow to the very best of their potentialThey are encouraged to do activities that will help them overcome and cope with the daily challenges and difficulties. We integrate the children and help them to feel wanted and loved and valued. This also applies to more “able” children. Special emphasis is placed on language development as many of the children who enter the crèche have little or no English understanding as a spoken language. They may never hear English at home.
