Elderly Women
Our ultimate goal for the elderly group is to ensure inclusion of older community members in the wider society.
Project
We provides a service in the community that concentrates on the general well being of our respected elders which enables users to enjoy a informal setting that is trusting and non judgmental.
Provisions & Activities
Some adult learners find education and training quite daunting, especially in a classroom setting in addition to not being able to read or write in both English and Bengali. However, with plenty of support from our users we are able to look at individual needs and take into account any additional barriers which enables us to plan accordingly.
To make learning fun and enjoyable we use our creative ideas to encourage and enhance on our groups existing skills, talents and experiences. We use visual learning materials to sustain interest and increase attention, at the same time addressing cultural sensitivity.
Discussion group
These sessions are an opportunity to increase social interaction and reduce isolation. The elderly group meet on Friday mornings for an informal chat and to enjoy a cup of tea, the sessions are facilitated by our development worker who invites external agencies on a regular basis to disseminate information relevant to issues that have been identified or discussed.
Additional/ One-to-One Support
One to one support is available to women who want to discuss any difficulties that they may be facing in terms of their personal development.
